I mentioned in my first post that we want to start a CSA. CSA is an acronym for Community Supported Agriculture. The CSA model is a system that connects the producer and consumers within the food system more closely by allowing the consumer to subscribe to the harvest of a certain farm or group of farms. It is an alternative socioeconomic model of agriculture and food distribution that allows the producer and consumer to share the risks of farming. Jewelweed – Fun Fact, It’s Not A Weed
A weed is defined as a wild plant growing where it is not wanted and in competition with cultivated plants. If jewelweed was growing on our little lot of land, we’d have to pull it, mostly because it spreads. But, since it’s growing along the edge of a friend’s property, I don’t see it as a weed, I see it as a resource. My husband and our son were scouting out deer sign and places to hunt and got into a patch of Stinging Nettles. When they got home, my husband was scratching at the rash on his hand. Retirement – What’s that?
Hello! Thank you for visiting our online home. I have started a few blogs over the last ten years. One was about books and writing. The two current ones are about cooking and old-fashioned living, respectively. I also blog for Grit magazine. So, when my husband floated the idea of us running a business together, I was all ears.
